Years had passed- more years than Alison could count- but she recognized him immediately. The uncultivated flame hair singled him out across the airport lobby. Alison tensed, postponement for the fury- both hers and his- but it was only quiet and calm in the darkness of the shadow. She could almost taste the sweetness of reunion in the air, a separate fragrance from the perfume of his breath; the emptiness from when they were apart left its own bitter after-taste, something she hadnt consciously noniced until it was removed.
